Uncorking the Past

Featuring Dr. Patrick McGovern,
Scientific Director of
Penn Museum's Biomolecular Archaeology Laboratory
Whether used for medicinal purposes, as a
religious symbol, or a social aid, fermented beverages have been a profound
force in history. Following a trail of archaeological and chemical clues around
the world, Dr. Patrick McGovern tells the story of humanity's ingenious,
intoxicating quest for the perfect drink. Join fellow alumni on this
journey from discovery to recreation of ancient ales and extreme beverages.

LOCATION: The home of Jaime (W’88) and Cheryl (W’87)
Peisach,
Golden Beach, Florida. Exact location to be provided upon registration.
**Program includes light refreshments, beverage
tasting, and a signed copy of Dr. McGovern’s book, Uncorking the Past,
for all attendees.
The Penn Alumni Salon Series offers alumni the
opportunity to participate in an intimate, interactive classroom
experience with
access to Penn’s most dynamic professors. Given the nature of the
program,
space is very limited and advance registration is required.
